This book, Charuzei Peninim, was originally published in Krakau in 1897. It was reprinted in London in 1919/1920 by Express Printers of 89 Commercial Street, complete with two important haskomos (approbations) from the first edition.
The first is from Rabbi Shimon Sofer (1820- 1883). He was the second son of the Chasam Sofer, and was Chief Rabbi of Krakow from 1859.
The second is Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim Meizel of Lodz (1821 – 1912).
The problem is that I have very little information about the author, Rabbi Yitzchak Reuvein HaKohen Ornstein. He was born in 1856, and married Matel (Matylda), the daughter of Yechiel Michel Lipschitz, in Krakow in 1879.
At the time of the 1921 census he was living at 21 Fournier Street, E1, the same address printed in his book. He writes in his census return that he is a Rabbi and his place of work is Machzike Hadas, 79 Brick Lane. Also known as the Spitalfields Great Synagogue. died in London on 16th December 1926 – 6th Teves.
