Hull Old Hebrew Congregation, Order of Service at the Re-Consecration of the Synagogue, Osborne Street, Hull, 1955.

The Hull Old Hebrew Congregation was founded, on combining two earlier synagogues, in 1826.  The building at Osborne Street was built in 1903, but destroyed by German bombing on the night of 7/8 May, 1941.  The replacement new building was not completed and consecrated until 1955.

According to the printed Order of Service, the reconsecration service was conducted by the Chief Rabbi, Israel Brodie, although the JCR website says that the Synagogue was reconsecrated by Dayan Myer Lew.

The Rabbi, Eliezer Simcha Rabinowitz, was born in Edinburgh, a son of Rabbi Jacob Rabinowitz.  He was in Hull, as Rabbi of the Western Synagogue Hull, from 1953, and as communal Rabbi from 1956-59.

The last page lists the officers and committee members of the congregation, including the President, Louis Rapstone and the Vice-President, Arthur Lavine, who had laid the foundation stone.
