B’Ikvoso DeMeshicho (In the Wake of the Messiah), by Rabbi Meir Meiri, London 1952

This small book, B’Ikvoso DeMeshicho, or “In the wake of the Messiah” is by Rabbi Meir Meiri.  It was published in 1952 and gives the publication address as 171, Golders Green Road, London N.W.11. This is the address of the Beis Shmuel Synagogue, associated with the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations (UOHC).

Beis Shmuel was first opened by Rabbi Elchanan Halpern (known as Reb Chuna) during the Second World War at a flat in Alba Gardens, Golders Green. 171 Golders Green Road was purchased in 1946, and has expanded as the community purchased the house next door. It has a milvah and is a place of prayer and Torah study.

The book, by Rabbi Meir Meiri is a call for the unification of the religious forces of the world to establish an organization under the aegis of Agudath Israel to aid the Torah-true Jews in Eretz Yisroel (the Land of Israel) to establish the rule of Torah in Eretz Yisrael.

  1. Thank you for your interesting Miscellanies. Rabbi Meir Meiri (not HaMeiri) was a real person, and author of a number of seforim, including Chumash Torah Me’irah and a work on the halochos of agunos. His original name was Feurwerker (as mentioned in some of his publications). He lived in London after WWII and was close to the Shotzer Rebbe and other prominent rabbis.
