This little booklet is one of the Annual reports of the Jewish Branch of the Children’s Country Holiday Fund. The President of this Charity in 1909 was Ernest Louis Franklin. For more information about the Franklin family, click here. The committee includes the wives of several well-to-do members of the Jewish community, including Mrs. Herbert Bentwich. The purpose of the Charity was to provide Country Holidays for poor children – to get children brought up in the city out to the countryside for some recreation and fresh air. The children came from schools mainly in the East End of London, including the Jews Free School, the Spanish and Portuguese School, Stepney Jewish School, and schools in Rutland St., Berner St., Chicksand St., etc. There is a list on the last page.
